I wrote this at school, when I was both bored and silly =P
TITLE: A SILLY FEELING
PAIRING: LING X ED
Ling greeted Ed with his best smile when the blond opened the hotel room's wooden door. “Good morning, Edward, I was just in the neighborhood…”
“…and thought I’d drop,” his voice suddenly trailed off and he finished weakly, “in?” Something was off, he could feel it. It wasn’t just Edward’s flushed face that gave it away, or his messed up hair, or the fact that his buckle was undone. No… It was something in the air. It was the smell of sex, and then Ling noticed all of the previously listed things.
The prince’s eyes narrowed on Ed, who was trying to casually compose himself by wiping the sweat off his brow and adjusting his pants. “Ling, what…” Before he could finish, Ling had gently pushed him aside for access to the hotel room. The smell was strong, so whoever Edward had been giving himself to was probably still around.
They would be lazy, tired, and unprepared for a fight. Easy picking for a man as trained as Ling in combat.
“Hey! What the hell!” Ed exclaimed behind him.
Ling’s skilled eyes quickly took in the room. The bed was a mess as Edward always left it, Edward’s suitcase was opened with small piles of clothes carefully placed on the floor. Alphonse was sitting near the window, Ling’s entrance and Ed’s yelling had turned his attention to the two.
Wait… Alphonse was in the room? That didn’t make sense. Ed always got mad at him whenever he wanted to make love even in the same building as Alphonse. So why would he do it with someone else, with Alphonse in the room? Unless Alphonse was in on it, and was there to keep the secret...
Or maybe… Maybe Alphonse was the one Edward had been doing it with!
The image of the bulky suit of armor that was Edward’s little brother mounting his small lover made Ling shiver.
“Ling! You can’t just barge in here! Didn’t they teach you manners at that palace of yours?” Ed was still shouting.
Alphonse tilted his head innocently, while his hands fidgeted in his lap. “Why is Ling here?” he asked.
Ling took a deep breath. Ask him, his mind screamed, Demand to know who Edward is cheating on you with. You are a prince, and this is an embarrassment.
…And a heartbreak.
Ling spun on his heel and stared down at Edward, eyebrows furrowed in displeasure.
“What’s that look for?” Ed asked.
“I want to know,” Ling started, “why this room smells of sex, and not our sex. Are you cheating on me?”
Ed’s face immediately became red, and Al gasped behind Ling. “Brother?” the youngest Elric asked.
Edward’s hand snatched Ling’s sleeve quickly and began tugging him to the door, his face was still red as he murmured to himself, “Idiot. Idiot!”
“A simple yes or no--," Ling began, when Ed interrupted, “I’LL EXPLAIN OUTSIDE!” Ling quickly shut his mouth. It made a loud clicking sound as his teeth clashed against one another.
They went quickly out into the hallway, Edward taking deep breaths--something Alphonse had encouraged him to do to calm down. His face was still red though. “There was no need to make a scene,” Ling said, “It was a simple question.”
“But you asked it in front of my brother!” Ed snapped, glaring at him.
“So…” Ling mused, “It isn’t your brother you're cheating on me with…”
Ed’s face flushed again. “NO, YOU IDIOT!” he yelled. Someone from a neighboring hotel room stuck their head out of their room and hushed them. Edward shot them a dirty look even after they had retreated into the room.
After that, Ling watched the alchemist take a deep breath and try to compose himself. It looked like Edward was having a hard time. His cheek dented inward, indicating that he was chewing on it, his face had gone from beet red in anger to a flushed pink in embarrassment. He was obviously trying to figure out the best way to break the news to the Prince.
Ling decided then and there that he wouldn't take this.
He wasn't enough for Edward, and Edward definitely was not enough for a prince like himself! It wasn't a big loss.
Ling turned to make his exit when Edward spoke. "I was just... I mean... I wasn't with anyone," Edward stuttered. Ling looked at him, and saw the blond avoiding eye contact as he babbled on. "I was just... You know... I mean, you weren't around, and I didn't expect... Argh!"
"Edward, I don't understand," Ling stated. "Surely it isn't this difficult to admit you cheated?"
Ed shot him an angry glare, one Ling would have smiled in amusement at if the situation would have been different. "I. Wasn't. Cheating." The alchemist seethed.
"But your unruly appearance and the smell of sex, which I know all too well, say differently," Ling countered.
"I told you."
"You babbled to me."
"Argh!" Ed shook his head in frustration, and his fingers raked through his hair. "Fine, you want me to admit it? FINE! I was taking care of myself!"
Ling blinked at Ed in confusion, but only for the moment before what Edward had said clicked. Ling nearly recoiled, disgusted. "You did that in front of dear Alphonse?" he gasped.
"Wha--NO! You moron!" Ed exclaimed, shivering in disgust himself. "I was in the freaking bathroom. Al didn't know what I was doing!"
Ed's explanation began to make sense, and Ling felt rather silly. But he pushed the feeling away (princes don't feel silly) and instead felt relief.
Ed had pushed him aside, and was returning to his hotel room to tell Alphonse all was well with Prince Pain-in-the-Ass.
Ling's hand reached out and grabbed Ed's flesh arm, however, and Ed froze. "Is there something else you want?" he asked. "I'm not buying you breakfast. I gotta pack my suitcase so me and Al can hit the road."
"Ed, would you like me to stay and help you get ready to go?" Ling offered, wiggling his eyebrows a little. "I could help you with what you were struggling with before." A knowing smile hinted at his lips, as he saw recognition flash in Edward's eyes. The blonde gave him a wicked smile, and Ling knew he had him.
Then Edward shrugged his hand out of Ling's grasp, and put it on the doorknob. "No thanks, I really gotta pack." The door opened, and he walked in snickering all the way. "Maybe I'll have Al help me."
Ling's jaw went slack in utter embarrassment and Ed went into a fit of laughter when he looked over his shoulder and saw it.
The door closed and Ling was left alone in the hallway...
Feeling very silly.
